ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – In familiar fashion, the UCF rowing team will officially begin its 2019 competitive season on Saturday at the 39th Annual Metro Cup.
The Knights, who have won the Robin Yeuell Trophy for eight consecutive seasons, will line up on Lake Maitland in the traditional dual with Rollins College. Racing will start with the Novice 4 at 8:10 a.m.
UCF will race a pair of boats in four events - Varsity Eight, Varsity Four, Second Varsity Four and Novice Four. The Knights will also race a boat in the Novice Eight and Second Varsity Eight.
After the Novice Eight’s race, the Knights will have a short break before the Second Varsity Four race at 8:40 a.m. The Novice Eight will race at 9:30 a.m., followed immediately by the Varsity Four race at 9:40 a.m. The Second Varsity Eight will race at 10:20 a.m. and the Varsity Eight will close out the competition at 10:40 a.m.
The awards ceremony will take place at 11:10 a.m.
Following the Metro Cup, UCF returns to Lake Pickett to host UConn and Jacksonville on March 22. The Knights will make a trip to Sarasota April 5-6 for the Sunshine State Invite before heading to Clemson for a two-day invite April 19-20. April 26-27, the Knights will race at the Lake Wheeler Invite before returning to host the UCF Regatta on April 28.
The four-time American Athletic Conference champion Knights head to Oklahoma City on May 19 to defend their title.
