Knights Win 200M At Music City Challenge

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF track and field team turned in another solid performance on the opening day of the Music City Challenge, capturing the 200-meter dash title at the Vanderbilt Indoor Track Facility.

 

"Once again we had some personal bests and some season bests," UCF head coach Dana Boone said. "This is what we want to happen going into the conference meet in two weeks. The team is competing well and we look to build on this tomorrow."

The Knights took the top two spots in the 200-meter dash, with Ciara Holback capturing the title in 24.10 and Shian Hyde finishing just behind her for second in 24.14. All five of UCF’s 200-meter competitors finished in the top 30.

 

A pair of Knights, Gabby Durant and Jhane’ Carter, finished in the top 10 in the weight throw. Shanell Atkins and Soteria Russell each improved their marks in the event to finish in the top 30.

 

Devin D’Oliveira turned in a personal-best performance to finish 14th in the long jump. Her distance of 18-8.75/5.71m is the eighth-best mark in the conference.

 

The Knights continue action at the Music City Challenge on Saturday.
