Kuznetsova/Zeleva ranked #16, Zeleva at #34

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The No. 23 UCF women’s team saw their top singles player and doubles pair ranked in the ITA/ORACLE rankings on Wednesday afternoon.

Valeriya Zeleva and Ksenia Kuznetsova have gone 6-0 on the season, good enough to get them the rank of No. 16 as a dynamic duo. They have defeated two ranked doubles teams so far. They downed the No. 4 pair in the nation from Tulsa in remarkable comeback fashion as well as the No. 40 pair from FSU. Zeleva and Kuznetsova have played exclusively at the top doubles spot this season. Last year, Kuznetsova was a part of the first ever at-large bid for the NCAA Doubles Championship. This tandem looks to repeat the effort from last season and return the Knights to the Doubles Championship.

Zeleva checks in at No. 34 in the singles rankings, as she is 6-0 at the top spot for the Knights. Her spot makes her the highest ranked American Athletic Conference women’s player. She has triumphed over a pair of ranked opponents so far this season, downing FSU’s No. 39 Carla Touly and Baylor’s No. 59 Livia Kraus. Touly and Kraus have dropped in the rankings since being bested by Zeleva.
