Season Preview: Seniors

ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – Three seniors make up the senior class for the UCF softball team as they get ready to begin their last seasons at the UCF Softball Complex. Cassady Brewer, Erin Emanuel, and Brooke Barlow are leaders on and off the field and are positive influences for the Knights.

The trio brings energy, experience, leadership, tenacity, and skill to the program and they have one more season to leave their legacy.

The Seniors:

Cassady Brewer
Brewer begins her fourth and final season as a Knight and has left her name in the record books for years to come. After becoming UCF’s primary catcher, Brewer gunned down 17 would-be base stealers last season, breaking the single-season record. At the plate, Brewer ended the 2018 season on a 23-game on-base streak beginning on March 27 against Bethune-Cookman. In those 23 games, Brewer drew 22 walks, while notching 24 hits and 14 RBI carrying a .429 batting average and .598 on-base percentage. Brewer also earned American Athletic Conference First Team honors for the third consecutive season and was named to the NFCA First-Team All-Region with pitcher Alea White. Brewer plans to be the primary catcher this season and hopes to continue her on-base streak.

Erin Emanuel
Since transferring from the College of Southern Idaho before her junior year, Emanuel has made a positive impact on the program. Last season, Emanuel earned Second-Team All-Conference after hitting .326 in conference games with a .512 slugging percentage. Emanuel started 30 games for UCF and was the squad’s go-to shortstop in the second half of the season, leading the infield. Emanuel will look to lead the veteran infield to another winning season both defensively and offensively for the Knights.

Brooke Barlow
Barlow transferred from the College of Central Florida after her sophomore year where she was voted FSCAA Player of the Year. During her first year with the Knights, Barlow saw action in 39 games and started 25. Splitting time between first base and DP, the lefty brings a great deal of experience to the infield but can also be utilized in the outfield. Barlow can be a big bat for the Knights as a fourth lefty in the lineup.
