Knights Host UCF Invitational

ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF softball team hosts the UCF Invitational this upcoming weekend, their final home tournament of the season. UCF will play a four-game slate as part of the five-team tourney with a total of 11 games.

Games will begin on Friday, March 1 at 12pm and will conclude Sunday at 2:30pm. Tickets to Sunday’s games are sold out.

Friday will feature a visor giveaway for both UCF games and Saturday will be softball bingo day at the UCF Softball Complex.

Live stats will be available for all games and a live stream will be available for all UCF games on UCFKnights.TV.

UCF will face Dartmouth (2-3), Toledo (4-5), LA Tech (12-3), and No. 1 Florida State (17-0) from Friday through Sunday in addition to a Monday matchup with Florida State. The Seminoles are the defending National Champions after defeating Washington in the National Championship last June.

KNIGHT BITES

• WHITE KNIGHT: Alea White was named Pitcher of the Week this week by the American Athletic Conference after recording a 3-0 record last weekend including a no-hitter. She collected 23 strikeouts and allowed just two earned runs for a 0.64 earned run average.
• HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE: The Knights are 7-3 at the UCF Softball Complex thanks to a 5-0 weekend during the Knights Classic. UCF won all five of their matchups to sweep the tourney.
• SHE’S BREWIN: Senior Cassady Brewer earned honor roll accolades this week by The American for her performance at the Knights Classic. Brewer collected three doubles and drove in six RBI as part of her weekend and started a rally against Penn State in the sixth inning on Saturday as the Knights came back to win 3-2 in eight innings. Two of her three doubles came with the bases loaded.
• CALIFORNIA LOVE: Freshman pitcher Breanna Vasquez is off to a hot start in the circle to begin her collegiate career. She has won three consecutive games including Power 6 opponent, Pitt. Vasquez picked up the win over then 11-2 LA Tech striking out six and allowing just four hits.
• MOVING ON UP: With her no-hitter last weekend, White moved into 5th all-time in total wins in program history with 48.
• DOUBLE OR NOTHIN’: In their first 14 games, the Knights have racked up 24 doubles. In 2018, UCF hit 52. Brewer leads the team with six.
