ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF softball team dropped their midweek matchup with Louisiana Tech Thursday afternoon, 3-0 at the UCF Softball Complex. Thursday’s action began in the top of the fourth after the game was suspended Wednesday evening to due rain.
The Knights compiled four hits and three doubles in the loss. Alea White tossed all seven innings giving up five hits, three runs, and six strikeouts and is now 5-4 on the season.
UCF snapped their six-game winning streak and move to 9-5 on the season and 7-3 at home.
Things You Need To Know:
- After 14 games, UCF has compiled 24 doubles. They had 52 all of 2018.
- Cassady Brewer, Aubrey Johnson, and Takiya London all recorded doubles for the Black and Gold. Hayley Bejarano collected UCF’s fourth hit.
- White is averaging over five strikeouts per outing this season.
- Johnson and Denali Schappacher lead the UCF offensively each hitting .343 with 12 hits.
- Five Knights are averaging above a .300 batting average and Jazmine Esparza is right behind with a .273 average and leads the Knights with 13 RBI.
- In their last seven games, UCF is 6-1 and hitting .310 and 26 runs.
- UCF and LA Tech will meet one more time on Saturday for the rubber match.
Scoring:
TECH: 2-0 | 1st | With runners on first and second, LA Tech ripped a shot up the middle to score the runner from second. The Lady Techsters loaded the bases and drew a walk to bring in their second run.
TECH: 3-0 | 7th | LA Tech doubled deep to left field to score their runner from first to extend their lead.
ON DECK
The Knights will host their final home tournament of the season, the UCF Invitational for a four-game slate from Friday-Sunday.
