ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) –Round two of the War On I-4 is on tap for Wednesday night in Tampa. The UCF men’s basketball team looks to sweep the season series against South Florida for the fourth straight season and earn three more rivalry series points when the two teams tip-off at 7 p.m. from the Yuengling Center.

Back on Feb. 13, the Knights took it to the Bulls from the jump, sprinting out to a 13-0 lead and never looking back. UCF (20-6, 10-4) won 78-65 for the team’s seventh straight victory over South Florida. The eighth in a row will have to be away from home, where the Knights are just 3-4 this season.

The last time UCF hit the road, the team had No. 23 Cincinnati down late in the game before ultimately falling by five to the second place team in The American. The Knights, currently tied for third in the league, will look to remain there with a win over the sixth-place Bulls.

South Florida (18-9, 7-7) has improved greatly in its second year under head coach Brian Gregory, but the Bulls have lost their last three conference contests to the Knights, Temple and Houston. A win over their rival would give South Florida a big boost down the stretch with games still to come against UConn, Tulane and SMU.

Wednesday also has three War On I-4 points on the line, as UCF currently leads the official department-wide series 36-6. The Knights have won the series each of the first two years of its existence and things look to be trending the same way for 2018-19.

NOTES TO KNOW

  • UCF has won the last seven games against South Florida, but the Bulls own a 22-16 advantage in the all-time series.
  • South Florida has attempted more free throws than any other team in the nation.
  • The Bulls are also sixth in the nation with 13.9 offensive rebounds per game.
  • South Florida’s Laquincy Rideau leads the league and is seventh in the nation with 2.88 steals per game.
  • UCF is 3-4 in true road games this season.
  • The Knights are a perfect 20-0 when leading with two minutes to go in the game.
  • Tacko Fall has successfully won all 26 tipoffs this season and each of the last 30 dating back to last year.
  • Aubrey Dawkins has been impressive in seven true road games, averaging 18.9 points per game, while shooting 54.7 percent from the field, 48.8 percent from three and 90.0 percent from the free throw line.
  • The Knights lead The American with a 47.0 team field goal percentage.
  • A win would make UCF 21-6, the program’s most wins in the regular season since going 21-9 back in 2011-12.
  • At 10-4 in league play, a win on Wednesday would match UCF’s most AAC wins since joining the league (11-7, 2016-17).
