#30 UCF Wins 5 in a Row, Sweeps Georgia St.

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The No. 30 UCF women’s tennis team defeated the Georgia State Panthers by a score of 7-0 as the Knights returned home to the UCF Collegiate Tennis Center at the USTA National Campus. The Black and Gold have now won five matches in a row.

"It feels good to just get another win," said head coach Bryan Koniecko, "It's nice to be back home and get a victory here. We're looking forward to practice tomorrow to get a little better and work on some things as we get ready to take on a tough Denver team."

Doubles play began with a decisive victory for UCF on court three. Natalia Serrano and Nandini Sharma triumphed over Anastasia Grosheva and Lara Vovk 6-1. The Knights would clinch the doubles point on court two as Rebeka Stolmar and Marie Mattel defeated Eva Chivu and Damira Muminovic 6-3. Court one’s match went unfinished, as No. 22 Valeriya Zeleva and Ksenia Kuznetsova ended up tied 4-4 with Andreea Stanescu and Daniela Ramirez.

The momentum carried into singles play, as Kuznetsova made quick work of Muminovic on court two. Kuznetsova cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory to give the Knights an early point.

Court one would be the next to finish, as No. 29 Zeleva took down another ranked opponent in No. 102 Chivu by a score of 6-4, 6-1. This win makes it nine straight for Zeleva.

Sharma would get the clincher for the Knights on court five. She bested Vovk 6-3, 6-1 to win her fifth match in a row. Just seconds later, Stolmar added another point on court three as she beat Ramirez 6-0, 6-4.

The score would stand at 5-0 for a bit. Domenika Turkovic would get another point on the board for UCF as she edged Stanescu 6-2, 6-3 on court four.

Court six was the last one to finish, as it gave the Knights the 7-0 sweep, their first since they defeated Stetson in the second match of the season. Serrano was victorious over Grosheva 6-3, 6-4.
