Decamps and Rubio Remain Ranked

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF men’s tennis team remains with two ranked individuals as Gabriel Decamps and Alan Rubio check in at No. 22 and No. 120 respectively in the latest release of the ORACLE/ITA rankings.

No. 22 Decamps has gone 1-1 since the last individual rankings were released on Feb. 6 which saw him at No. 17. Decamps defeated Indiana’s Antonio Cembellin 6-3, 6-3 in the team’s first win of the season. He was bested by No. 113 Mattias Siimar 6-0, 6-2 of No. 16 Michigan.

No. 120 Rubio is up from his rank of No. 122 from the last set of rankings. Since that time, he has come up just short of winning his two matches, both against tough opponents. At #16 Michigan, Rubio took Myles Schalet to three sets but was narrowly defeated 6-7 (2-7), 6-4, 12-10. Against Indiana, Rubio was edged by a ranked opponent, as No. 111 Bennett Crane edged him 5-7, 6-4, 6-1.

UP NEXT
The Knights will travel to Birmingham, Ala. on Sunday for a double header against Samford and UAB. The Black and Gold will take on UAB at 8:30 a.m. and will play Samford after the conclusion of the first match. UCF will return home on Tuesday against Bethune-Cookman for a double header. The start time of those matches have yet to be determined.
