#21 UCF at Alabama | #21 UCF at Ole Miss |
ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The No. 21 women’s tennis team travels to Alabama and Ole Miss this weekend after not seeing match action for 11 days.
The Knights will visit the Alabama Crimson Tide on Friday at 6 p.m. Alabama is a perfect 8-0 to start their dual match season. They have played every match at home thus far and have only dropped four points combined across all matches. The Crimson Tide is led by No. 47 Andie Daniell who is 4-1 on the year at the top spot.
Additionally, Alabama has not lost a doubles match this season, going a perfect 18-0 across all courts. The Knights have been solid in doubles play as well, as the top pair of Valeriya Zeleva and Ksenia Kuznetsova have gone 6-0 and are ranked No. 16 in the nation as a duo.
On Sunday, UCF travels to Ole Miss to take on the Rebels at noon. Ole Miss has only played five matches so far, good enough for a (INSERT RECORD) record. They dropped their first two matches of the season on ITA Kickoff Weekend against Purdue and No. 9 Michigan. Ole Miss began the season ranked No. 12, but have since dropped out of the top-25 and are now receiving votes.
No. 34 Zeleva and Marie Mattel look to stay undefeated in singles play. Both are 6-0 on the season, with Zeleva perfect at the top spot and Mattel seeing time at the No. 3 and No. 4 positions. Nandini Sharma has also been solid at the fifth and sixth spot in the lineup, going 4-1 combined. The Knights will look to ride the momentum of their 6-1 victory over Baylor back on Feb. 3 into this weekend.
