Knights Head to Gator Invitational

ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF men’s golf team is back in action for the second half of their season as they head to Gainesville, Fla., to compete in the Gator Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 16 and Sunday, Feb. 17.

All three rounds will be played at the par 70, 6,701-yard Mark Bostick Golf Course, home of the Florida Gators since 1960’s.

The field will consist of 15 teams over the two days including No. 5 Vanderbilt, No. 23 North Florida, No. 28 South Florida, No. 35 Liberty, No. 37 West Virginia, No. 43 Georgia Southern, and No. 49 Mississippi State.

During the fall, the Knights placed in the top-10 in three out of their four tournaments including a first-place finish at the Hartford Hawks Invitational and a second-place finish at the Jackrabbit Invitational.

Individually, Bobby Bai finished first at the Hartford Hawk Invite and senior Kyler Tate placed second. After three tournaments, Bai is averaging 71.38 strokes per round with a low-round of 66. Tate is also averaging just over 71 strokes per round with a low-round score of 67.

Newcomers Clement Charmasson and Pedro Lencart Silva each have a top-five tournament finish, along with senior Jalen Ledger.

Qualifying/Lineup Information

  1. Clement Charmasson is exempt for the 2019 Gator Invitational by virtue of earning an exemption by winning two prior qualifiers while exempt for the tournament (Tavistock Invitational & St. Mary’s Collegiate).
  2. Tommy Cao has qualified for the 2nd spot in the lineup for the 2019 Gator Invitational by finishing 2nd in the seven-round qualifier with a score of +2.
  3. Bobby Bai qualified for the 3nd spot in the lineup for the 2019 Gator Invitational by virtue of finishing 3rd in the seven-round qualifier with a score of +3.
  4. Colin Kresl will play in the 4th spot in the lineup for the 2019 Gator Invitational by virtue of finishing 4th in the seven-round qualifier with a score of +10.
  5. Kyler Tate will play in the 5th spot in the lineup as a coaches’ selection for the 2019 Gator Invitational after shooting 64 and 66 in the playoff with Ledger.

 IND: After shooting back-to-back rounds of 72 in the playoff with Tate, Ledger will play as the individual.
