ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – In the 2019 season opener, the UCF softball team fell to the Ole Miss Rebels, 3-0. The all-time series between the two teams moves to 3-2.
Tamesha Glover led the way offensively for the Knights, starting the season off with a 1.000 batting average as UCF collected four hits in seven innings with zero errors in the field.
Alea White took the circle for UCF, picking up a 0-1 record to begin the season. Freshman Tera Testa made her collegiate debut as the designated player.
Things You Need To Know:
- Glover grabbed two hits going 2-for-2 at the plate with a walk. At third, she recorded four assists.
- Jazmine Esparza ripped a double to left field for her first hit of the season.
- Aubrey Johnson made her collegiate debut at shortstop and grabbed two outs and assist along with a hit.
- Cassady Brewer caught a runner stealing for the 25th time of her career.
- White tossed a complete game giving up three runs on six hits and four strikeouts.
Scoring:
OM: 1-0 | 1st | Horton reached on a single to left field and stole second. She advanced on a routine grounder to third and scored with two outs after Finney singled up the middle.
OM: 2-0 | 3rd | Horton singled up the middle the stole second. Horton advanced to third on a groundball to second. After Finney walked, the Rebels put on the double steal allowing Horton to score.
OM: 3-0 | 4th | Alvarez double down the right field line and Whitley entered as the pinch runner. Whitley moved over to third on a sacrifice bunt and Mena reached on a fielders choice, the Rebels put the double steal on again for their third run of the night.
