MALMO, Sweden (UCFKnights.com) – Following an outstanding career at UCF, Vera Varis has signed a deal to play professional soccer for LB07 in Malmo, Sweden.
A native of Vantaa, Finland, she earned United Soccer Coaches All-America honors in 2017 and received all-region recognition in 2017 and 2018.
A two-time American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Year in 2017 and 2018, Varis played every minute in goal for the Knights during league play in 2018 and allowed just 19 goals on the season for a 1.05 goals-against average.
In 2017, Varis allowed just four goals for a 0.27 goals-against average that ranked third nationally.
After earning a spot on The American All-Freshman team in 2015, Varis went on to earn first team laurels in 2017 and 2018.
She finished her career ranked fourth with 231 saves as a Knight and her 21 career shutouts rank sixth all-time at UCF.
