ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) -- The NCAA Convention kicked off at Orlando's World Center Marriott Wednesday. Later that evening, the 2019 NCAA Honors Celebration saw Varsity Knight Shaquem Griffin honored with the 2019 NCAA Inspiration Award.
Griffin was joined on stage by UCF President Dale Whittaker to accept his award, before sharing some brief remarks with the crowd.

One of the newest members of the UCF family was also honored. Lt. Gen. Robert Caslen Jr. was awarded the NCAA's highest honor as the 2019 winner of the Theodore Roosevelt Award. Caslen began his tenure as senior counsel to the president on Jan. 9. He is a decorated Army veteran and former superintendent of the United States Military Academy at West Point. He played football for Army in the 1970s as a center.
