Knights Drop to No. 22 in Latest Rankings

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women’s tennis team dropped in the ORACLE/ITA rankings to No. 22 per their release on Wednesday afternoon.

The Knights began the season ranked at No. 20 and defeated their first two opponents on Friday with relative ease. The Black and Gold downed Georgia Southern 6-1 before defeating Stetson in the nightcap of the opening day double header 7-0. UCF dropped their Sunday match to No. 15 FSU but put up a fight in doing so. Valeriya Zeleva had herself a day, as she defeated No. 39 Carla Touly in three sets. She and Marie Mattel would grab the two Knight points on the match, as both moved to 3-0 individually on the season.

UP NEXT
The Knights will face No. 20 Northwestern on Saturday at 10 a.m. as part of ITA Kickoff Weekend. Depending on the outcome of that match, UCF will either face No. 17 Miami (FL) or No. 23 Tulsa on Sunday.
