ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) –A former number one junior college prospect in the nation is set to join the UCF men’s basketball program immediately. Yuat Alok, a 6-foot-11 center out of Auckland, New Zealand, has signed to be a Knights, head coach Johnny Dawkins announced on Thursday.
“We’re excited to bring in a player of Yuat’s caliber,” Dawkins said. “He brings plenty of size and skill, and will be a welcome addition to our front court. We can’t wait to get him integrated into our UCF family.”
Alok comes to UCF from TCU, where he played in 10 games this season before injuring his hand, that likely would have sidelined him the entire 2018-19 season. With the Horned Frogs, he averaged 3.3 points and 2.5 rebounds in 13.1 minutes per game.
Born in Kenya, before moving to New Zealand at a young age, Alok came to the United States at the age of 17 and played at Impact Academy in Sarasota as a senior in high school. He also competed for the U19 New Zealand National Team.
Alok then spent two seasons at Chipola Community College and came out as the number one junior college prospect in the nation, as rated by JUCORecruiting.com. He averaged 12.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, shooting 55.1 percent from the field and 81.6 percent from the free throw line en route to All-Panhandle Conference honors.
Earlier this season, the Knights signed Darin Green Jr. out of Wharton in Tampa during the early signing period. UCF also has South Carolina transfer Ibrahim Famouke Doumbia sitting out this season and will be eligible for the 2019-20 season.
The Knights (13-3, 3-1) are back in action on Saturday, hosting Tulsa at CFE Arena. UCF and the Golden Hurricane tip-off at noon on ESPNU.
