UCF To Host Pacific Monday

ORLANDO, Fl. (UCFKnights.com) – Following a two-game road sweep, the UCF women’s basketball team returns to CFE Arena on Monday to host Pacific.

 

The Knights (8-1) and Tigers (6-1) both enter the 7 p.m. match on a five-game win streak.

 

The 4th Annual UCF Basketball Toy Drive will take place prior to the game. The Knights will be collecting new, unwrapped toys to donate to The Spring of Tampa, a domestic violence shelter, for a campaign that was started by former Knight Aliyah Gregory. Fans that bring a toy to donate will receive free admission into the game. Toys will also be accepted at the UCF men’s basketball games on Dec. 16 and Dec. 21 and fans will receive a free Orlando’s Hometown Team flag.

Santa and the Grinch will also be on hand for photos prior to the game. Monday is National Syrup Day a limited supply of chicken and waffles will be the concession of the game.

Knight Notes

  • UCF is off to its best start since 1984-85 at 8-1 and bring a five-game win streak into Monday’s contest.
  • The Knights are receiving votes in the USA Today/WBCA Top 25 for a program-best fifth straight-week.
  • Kay Kay Wright has scored in double figures in all nine games, has three 20-point and a 30-point performance this season and is UCF’s leading scorer with 19.7 points per game.
  • The Orlando native became just the fourth Knight in program history with at least 300 assists and 150 steals in their careers.
  • UCF’s leading rebounder is Nyala Shuler with 8.1 boards per contest. She moved into fifth all-time in career rebounds this season with 693 and counting.
  • Shuler became the first Knight this season with a double-double, pulling down a season-best 14 rebounds to go along with 10 points in the win at Duquesne.

 

Home for the Holiday

  • The Knights return to CFE Arena for their lone home contest of December.
  • UCF is 3-0 at home this season and is averaging 72.0 points per game.
  • The Knights average 12.3 steals per game and hold a 11.7 advantage on the boards.
  • Kay Kay Wright leads a trio of Knights averaging double figures at home at 16.3 points per game. Kayla Thigpen adds 13.7 points per game and Masseny Kaba averages 12.3 points per game in CFE Arena.

 

Scouting the Tigers

  • Pacific enters the game with a 6-1 overall record and brings a five-game win streak to Orlando.
  • The Tigers hold the lone victory in the series, picking up a 78-74 overtime win in Stockton last season.
  • A trio of Tigers are averaging double figures, led by Valerie Higgins’ 17.6 points per contest. Ameela Li averages 16.4 and Brooklyn McDavid averages 15.7.
  • Higgins is also Pacific’s leader in rebounds (7.3) and steals (3.1) while Li leads the Tigers in assists (4.7).

 

Next up, UCF heads to St. Pete to face Liberty and No. 14/15 Syracuse in the St. Pete Shootout on Dec 21 and 22.
