Knights to Host Hatters Sunday

ORLANDO ( –The UCF men’s basketball team heads down the final stretch of non-conference play with a record of 8-2 and has won its last four home games. The Knights play the first of their final two contests before the holiday break on Sunday, hosting Stetson at 3 p.m.

Known for their defense, the Knights got it done offensively their last time out, defeating high scoring Georgia Southern 95-88. It was the most points a Johnny Dawkins coached UCF teams has scored in the head coach’s three seasons at the helm.


Senior BJ Taylor was stellar in the win, scoring a career-high 35 points on 6-of-9 from three-point range. Taylor scored 27 of his 35 in the second half and had an astonishing 15 points in the final three minutes and 58 seconds of game action.


The Knights hold a 29-15 all-time advantage over Stetson, but have had even better success recently, winning the last 18 meetings between the in-state opponents. The last Hatter victory against UCF came back in 2001 in DeLand.


The Hatters come into CFE Arena at 2-9 with wins over Johnson and Western Illinois. Stetson most recently lost at home to Marist, 79-75.
