Gouveia Dominating on European Tour

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Former UCF men’s golfer, Ricardo Gouveia, continues his success in professional golf. Gouveia turned professional in 2014 just after graduating from UCF.

Gouveia started out on the Challenge Tour, the second-tier men's professional golf tour in Europe. It is operated by the PGA European Tour and, as with on the main European Tour. Gouveia dominated in 2015 on the Challenge Tour winning two events, finishing second in three events, and third in two other tournaments.

With the wins and earnings, Gouveia still holds the Challenge Tour earnings record, which was previously held by Edoardo Molinari. In 2015, Gouveia's season earning's totaled more than EUR250,000, officially surpassing the previous record total by EUR8,612.

After his success on the Challenge Tour, Gouveia earned his European Tour card and was promoted to the top tier. He has kept his tour card the last few years on the European Tour competing with some of the top golfers in the world.

In 2018, the Lisbon, Portugal native has finished in the top 10 in two events and has four top 20 finishes.

While at UCF, Gouveia was third-team All-America and All-Region as a senior, while earning Honorable Mention All-America honors as a sophomore. Gouveia is sprinkled throughout the men’s golf record book as one of the top golfers in program history. He holds the second best 54-hole score with a 203, holds the second lowest career scoring average (71.84), and has the second best single-season scoring average with a 71.06. In his three seasons as a Knight, Gouveia won an event each year.
