Knights Cruise By Chattanooga

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women’s basketball team closed out November on a strong note, topping Chattanooga 75-37 on Friday evening in CFE Arena.

UCF (6-1) reached the 70-point mark for the fifth time this season while holding Chattanooga (4-5) to a season-low 37 points.

Four Knights reached double figures. For the seventh time this season, Kay Kay Wright reached double digits, scoring a game-high 18. Masseny Kaba added 13 points. Kayla Thigpen and Sianni Martin chipped in 10 points each.

Nyala Shuler pulled down a game-high eight rebounds, while Kaba collected seven. Shuler moved into fifth all-time at UCF with 678 rebounds.

Lawriell Wilson and Diamond Battles each dished out a season-best three assists.

The defense was dominant, again.

  • UCF allowed its fewest points this season – 37 – and held the Mocs to a 33.3 field goal percentage.
  • The Knights forced its third consecutive opponent into 20 or more turnovers, converting 23 miscues into 31 points.
  • UCF held Chattanooga to just three points in the second quarter and six in the third quarter, marking the first time this season they’ve held an opponent to single figures in multiple quarters.

Kay Kay keeps climbing the career charts.

  • Kay Kay Wright entered Friday needing just one steal to join the UCF career top 10 in the category.
  • She collected two in the first five minutes of the game, pushing her into a tie for ninth with Celeste Hudson (2002-05, 2006-07).
  • The Orlando native picked up two more in the game, giving her sole possession of ninth all-time as a Knight with 155.
  • She also dished out one assist – moving her to 294 for her career.

The Knights will take a break before heading out for a two-game swing. UCF is at Delaware on Dec. 9 and at Duquesne on Dec. 12.
