TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF cross country team closed out its season with another solid performance on Friday morning at the NCAA South Region Championship.
Racing a 6K for the second time this season, UCF finished 25th overall as a team at Apalachee Regional Park, improving one spot from last year’s finish. All five Knights finished in the top 200.
For the fifth time this season, Victoria Jung was the first Knight to cross the finish line. She came in just shy of her personal best in the 6K race at 22:49.5.
Jessica Dolan continued her streak of being in UCF’s top three of each meet this season as she was the second Knight across the line in 23:34.7, less than 30 seconds off her best 6K time.
A trio of Knights turned in their best personal 6K performances to round out UCF’s scoring.
Crystal Tejeda lowered her time by more than 90 seconds for a new personal record of 24:09.0 in the race. Kaitlyn Soltis was more than 45 seconds faster than her best 6K mark, crossing the line in 24:51.3. Kayla McGowan was close to 40 seconds faster, finishing the race in 25:32.2.
The Knights will now turn their focus to the track and field season. Indoor competition begins Jan. 18 at the Clemson Invitational.
