ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF cross country team is headed to the 2018 NCAA South Region Championships, hosted by Florida State, on Friday.
The women's 6,000-meter race is slated for an 8:30 a.m. start at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee. A live stream of the race will be available on ESPN3.
The NCAA South Region Championships serves as the qualifier for the NCAA Championships. The top two teams for each gender, and the top four individuals not on those teams, automatically qualify for the Nov. 17 NCAA Championships in Madison, Wisc.
UCF enters the conference meet having a trio of top-five finishes this season and finishing in the top 10 of each meet this season.
Victoria Jung and Jessica Dolan both bring regional experience into the meet. Jung raced at the 2016 South Region Championship at Apalachee Regional Park, and Dolan competed at the 2017 South Region Championship in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Jung enters the meet with a trio of top 10 finishes this season and has been the first Knight to cross the finish line four times in 2018.
Charlotte Crook, who was UCF’s top performer at the Mountain Dew Invitational, will race in her first collegiate regional. Dolan has been among three finishers four times this season.
Kayla McGowan, Kaitlyn Soltis and Crystal Tejeda will also represent the Black and Gold at the meet.
