ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women’s basketball team officially opens its 2018-19 campaign on Wednesday.
The Knights travel to Pitt for an 11 a.m. in the Petersen Events Center. The contest will stream on the ACC Network Extra.
Knight Notes
UCF opens its third season under head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson on Wednesday. In her two seasons at the helm, Coach “ABE” has led the Knights to back-to-back 20-win campaigns and guided the Black and Gold to a third place finish in the league standings in 2017-18.
The Knights begins its season in the receiving votes category of the USA Today/WBCA Preseason Top 25 for the first time in program history. UCF received a vote in three consecutive polls to close out the 2017-18.
UCF returns all-freshman selection Masseny Kaba, Nyala Shuler, who started all 33 games for the Black and Gold last season, and Kay Kay Wright, the Knights' second-leading scorer in 2017-18.
The Knights also regain Tolulope Omokore and Fifi Ndour, both of whom missed last season due to injuries. In addition to a trio of newcomers, Anna Kelly and Sianni will be eligible for UCF after sitting out last season due to NCAA transfer rules.

Scouting the Panthers
Pitt enters its first season under head coach Lance White. The Panthers posted a 10-20 overall mark in 2017-18.
The Panthers return four starters from last season, including its second and third-leading scorers in Kalista Walters and Jasmine Whitney. The Panthers also return Aysia Bugg, who missed last season due to injury.
UCF and Pitt meet for the first time on the hardwood. The Panthers are the first of two ACC opponents for the Knights this season, who will also take on Syracuse at the St. Pete Shootout.
Next up, the Knights return to the Sunshine State for a Nov. 14 contest at Stetson.
