Wallor Signs Extension

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – UCF men’s golf head coach Bryce Wallor has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the helm of the program through the 2023 campaign.

Wallor first took over in 2009 and has guided a program that is among the best in the country and has led the Knights to incredible success.

“We are extremely fortunate to have Bryce Wallor leading our men’s golf program now, and for the foreseeable future.,” said Dr. Daniel J. White, UCF vice president and director of athletics. “Bryce has had ample success in his last 10 seasons and I couldn’t be more excited about the direction men’s golf continues to move under Bryce’s leadership.”

In Wallor’s tenure at UCF, the Knights have claimed an NCAA Regional title and two conference championships. The Knights have advanced to the NCAA postseason seven times under Wallor's leadership.

“I want to thank Dr. Daniel J. White, Brad Stricklin and the entire UCF Athletic Department for giving me the opportunity to continue to lead the UCF men’s golf program,” said Wallor. “Our accomplishments over the last nine years would not have been possible without the support the program has received from this great university and the generous people in our community, allowing us to compete on a national level.”

The Knights put together two of their best NCAA Championship performances ever under Wallor's tutelage, finishing 14th in 2017, 16th in 2013, along with a Top-20 finish in 2012 and a 24th place finish in 2018. UCF has made it to the NCAA Championship four times in Wallor’s 10 seasons.

“Our success as a program is a result of the enormous sacrifice made by our student athletes and the support staff that assists them in the classroom, with physical fitness and wellness. I am grateful for each day that I spend as part of the UCF Family,” added Wallor. “I'm excited to continue to grow the program in the years to come.”

During Wallor’s time at UCF, the Knights have 22 wins as a team and 19 individual wins, the most by any head coach in program history.

Last season, UCF finished second at the NCAA Kissimmee Regional and put up impressive numbers. They paced the field with a team score of 276 after the first round, which led them to advance to their second consecutive National Championship with an 834 (-30) team score, the program’s second-best 54-hole total.

Manuel Elvira, Kyler Tate, and Bobby Bai all earned 2018 All-Conference accolades for their performance on the course last season. It was Elvira’s third consecutive all-conference recognition, Bai’s second, and Tate’s first. Combined, the three had 11 Top-10 finishes and 43 rounds recording par or better under Wallor’s influence.

This season, Wallor and the Knights won their first tournament in South Kent, Conn., and finished second at the Jackrabbit Invitational in Valentine, Neb.
