UCF to Distribute 40,000 Leis Saturday

ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – Ohana means family. On Saturday, the #UCFamily will show its #10hana spirit in honor of injured quarterback McKenzie Milton.

Thanks to Global Promo (https://myglobalpromo.com), the UCF Student Government Association and UCF Athletics, the Knights will be distributing 40,000 leis at the stadium prior to Saturday’s American Athletic Conference Championship game. Combined with organic efforts of Knight Nation to purchase and distribute leis, UCF Athletics believes everyone in attendance at Saturday’s game will likely have the opportunity to wear a lei in a show of support.

“Global Promo and owner Sanjay Sam Srinivasan deserve a huge thank you for donating a large number of these leis,” UCF Vice President and Director of Athletics Danny White said. “Sanjay is a UCF alumnus and season ticket-holder and he was integral in helping us put this together. The UCF Student Government Association generously donated a number of leis, as well. Our students have been incredible supporters of the team all season and they continue to do so through this gesture.”

Milton was injured during the second quarter of the UCF-South Florida War On I-4 football game this past Friday. He was hospitalized in Tampa. His family released a statement over the weekend, stating:

“The Milton family would like to express gratitude for all of your thoughts, prayers and concerns. McKenzie’s surgery was successful, and he is recovering well. We would like to thank the medical staffs at Tampa General Hospital, University of South Florida and the sports medicine staff at UCF for their superb care. McKenzie looks forward to joining his teammates in Orlando and supporting them in their quest to bring another conference championship to our program. Remember what Ohana means. No one gets left behind. #UCFamily.”

The No. 7-ranked Knights face off with Memphis for the American Athletic Conference title at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Spectrum Stadium. A limited number of tickets are still available by clicking here.
