ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women’s basketball team closes out its four-game road stretch on Wednesday, heading to Central Michigan.

 

UCF (3-0) will face the Chippewas (2-1) at 5 p.m. at McGuirk Arena. The game will stream on ESPN+.          

 

Knight Notes

  • UCF is off to a 3-0 start for the second time in three seasons under head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson.
  • The Knights picked up six votes in the Nov. 20 USA Today/WBCA Top 25.
  • Kay Kay Wright has scored in double figures in all three contests this year and is UCF’s leading scorer with 17.3 points per game.
  • Sydnee McDonald became the first Knight to reach the 20-point mark this season, dropping 24 on 66.7 percent shooting in the Nov. 14 win at Stetson.
  • McDonald hit six threes in the victory, becoming the first Knight since Zykira Lewis in 2016 to drain five or more threes in a contest.
  • Nyala Shuler is the Black and Gold’s leading rebounder this season, averaging 9.3 boards per game. Her 648 career rebounds put her one shy of sixth all-time at UCF.

 

Strength in Numbers

  • All 13 members of UCF’s squad saw action at Mercer and recorded at least one point in the victory.
  • The Knights scored at least 75 points for the second straight game, and posted back-to-back double-digit victories at Stetson and Mercer.
  • The Black and Gold held the Bears to a season-low 42 points. After scoring 14 points each in the first and second quarters, the Knights held Mercer to just 14 points total in the second half, including two in the third quarter.


Scouting the Chippewas

 

  • Central Michigan enters the match with a 2-1 overall record and is receiving votes in the USA Today/WBCA Top 25 after advancing to the Sweet 16 of the 2018 NCAA Tournament.
  • The programs have met just once on the hardwood, with the Knights claiming 57-48 win in Orlando on Dec. 16, 2005.
  • The Chippewas have reached the 100-point mark twice this season and five members of their squad are averaging double figures.
  • Presley Hudson leads the way with 28.0 points per game. Reyna Frost is the leading rebounder, pulling down 11.3 per contest.

 

Next up, the Knights open the home portion of their slate with the UCF Thanksgiving Tournament. The Black and Gold host Richmond at 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 24.
