ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) –The UCF men’s basketball team got back on track with a trio of victories en route to the Myrtle Beach Invitational Championship this past weekend. On Monday, the American Athletic Conference named UCF’s Aubrey Dawkins the league’s Player of the Week.
In his first year on the court in a UCF uniform, Dawkins has been impressive through five games. The redshirt junior has scored in double figures in every game of the 2018-19 season, including all three wins at the Myrtle Beach Invitational.
Dawkins scored 21 points on five three-pointers in the title game against Western Kentucky to earn Most Valuable Player honors for the tournament. For the weekend, he averaged 15.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and connected on eight three-pointers.
Dawkins and the Knights will return to action this weekend. UCF hosts Northern Kentucky Saturday at 6 p.m. at CFE Arena.
