Knights Sign Darin Green Jr. to NLI

ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) –Darin Green Jr. out of Wharton High School in Tampa has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball at UCF, Knights head coach Johnny Dawkins announced on Wednesday.

“We’re very excited to bring Darin into our UCF Basketball family,” Dawkins said. “Darin is a great young player with the potential to play a key role for us in his career as a Knight. He’s a good shooter, a good scorer. We can’t wait to get him on campus for next season.”

Green averaged over 20 points per game last season as a junior at Wharton, leading his team to more than 20 wins and a trip to the Florida Class 8A regional semifinals.

A three star recruit by Rivals and 247 Sports, Green scored 20 points in last year’s regional quarterfinals, including the game-winning jumper to put Wharton on top of Bartow, 51-50.

Green is the first signee in UCF’s 2019 class and will join Ibrahim Famouke Doumbia as part of next season’s group of newcomers. Doumbia is sitting out this season after transferring from South Carolina.
