Melville Adds Another Player of the Week

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – A day after clinching a share of the American Athletic Conference title, freshman McKenna Melville was named the league’s offensive player of the week on Monday.

It marked the fourth time that Melville was honored by the league.

"Despite being a freshman and adjusting to the collegiate game, McKenna has been a stabilizing force for us all season long. She has helped us reach our goal of winning a conference championship and continuing our goals down the road. She continues to emerge as a team leader on and off the court for us. I can't wait to watch her develop as her career progresses."

Melville continued her incredible freshman campaign over the weekend with 4.38 kills and 3.88 digs per set. The Eagan, Minn., guided the No. 22 Knights to a five-set victory over Cincinnati on Friday with her second 20-20 match of the year. Melville totaled 26 kills and 20 digs, as well as a pair of blocks. On Sunday, the rookie finished just one kill shy of her 10th straight double-double with nine kills and 11 saves.

This season, Melville ranks second in The American in kills per set at 4.5 and points at 511.5.

UCF will hit the road for the final time in the regular season this weekend with trips to SMU and Houston.
