Pingel Earns Second Player of the Week Nod

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - For the second time this season and the third time in her career, UCF Volleyball libero Jordan Pingel was named the American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week. The senior held the backline steady, as the Knights picked up wins against Tulsa and Wichita State to stay perfect in league play.

The libero posted 6.38 digs per set throughout the weekend, with 23 digs against Wichita State and 28 digs against Tulsa. Pingel played a vital role in keeping both opponents under .200 hitting.

This season, the senior is averaging 6.41 digs per set. She is 46 digs away from becoming the first player in UCF history with a career total of 2,000 digs.

“Jordan had one of the best weekends of her career when we needed it the most,” head coach Todd Dagenais said. “If there was a week when she deserved this honor, it was the week we beat the teams with two of the best liberos in the conference. She has been a rock for us on the court and in the locker room. Her steadiness has been the cornerstone for our success.”

UCF Volleyball (14-3) is in first in The American’s standings and on an 11-match winning streak.

The Knights play Temple (4-13) in The Venue this Friday at 7 p.m., before facing UConn on Sunday at 1 p.m.
