Wilmington, N.C. (UCFKnights.com) – Saturday was full of better weather as the UCF women’s golf team was able to finish their first round from Friday and complete their second round immediately after.
FIRST ROUND
After picking up after 15 holes, the Knights picked up a couple of birdies to get some momentum going into the second round.
Maria Balcazar led the way for the Knights putting up a 76(+4) with a pair of birdies, while Ana Laura Collado was just behind Balcazar with a 78(+6) also recording two birdies.
Nicolette Donovan converted two late birdies to finish round one with an 80(+8), while Elizabeth Moon and Alyssa Lamoureux capped off their first rounds each with an 82(+10).
SECOND ROUND
UCF regrouped for the second round and improved their scores tremendously. Moon paced the Knights with a 69(-3), bettering her score by 13 strokes. The freshman put up five birdies as she is +7 after two days.
UCF’s other freshman, Lamoureux, tallied up four birdies and finished the front nine one-under for a day two total of 73(+1), shaving off nine strokes from the first round.
Donovan had a solid front nine for even par and ended the second round with a 75(+3), while Balcazar followed Donovan with a 76(+4) after a trio of birdies.
Collado ended her second round with a 76(+4) as well.
On the day, the Knights were just five-over par with a 293 which was the fifth best team score for the second round and took off 23 strokes from their first round score.
The Knights moved up three spots to 13th overall with one more round left to play on Sunday.
The Black and Gold head into the final round ahead of No. 20 Furman, LSU, No. 28 Michigan State, UNCW, and Notre Dame.
UCF is set to tee off Sunday morning.
