ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) –For the first time in program history, the UCF men’s basketball team received votes in the preseason USA Today Coaches Poll, released Thursday afternoon.
The Knights, who were also receiving votes in the preseason AP Top 25 Poll, collected five votes in the coaches poll to rank 39th overall heading into the 2018-19 season.
UCF is one of just two teams out of the American Athletic Conference receiving votes in the first Coaches Poll, as Cincinnati garnered 30 points. The Bearcats finished just behind the Knights in The American Preseason Coaches Poll.
Kansas topped the poll with 14 first place votes, while Kentucky, Duke, Gonzaga and Virginia rounded out the same group of teams in the top five as was announced in the AP Poll.
The Knights will host the First Watch FanFest Thursday night, welcome Flagler for an exhibition on Monday at 7 p.m. and then open up the season Nov. 6 at CFE Arena against Rider.
