ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) –Last season marked the first time the UCF men’s basketball team had ever been receiving votes in the preseason AP Top 25 Poll. Expectations were high. The Knights received one vote.
On Monday, UCF was again receiving votes in the preseason AP Top 25 Poll. This time, with expectations even higher, the Knights received a total of 15 points, which ranks 35th overall.
UCF is one of just two teams out of the American Athletic Conference receiving votes in the first AP Top 25 Poll of 2018-19, as Cincinnati was just ahead of the Knights with 21 points. The Bearcats finished just behind the Knights in The American Preseason Coaches Poll.
Kansas topped the poll with 37 first place votes, while Kentucky, Gonzaga, Duke and Virginia rounded out the top five.
The Knights open up the third season under head coach Johnny Dawkins with an exhibition against Flagler next Monday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. The regular season gets going on Nov. 6, as UCF hosts Rider at 6:30 p.m. at CFE Arena.
