UCF vs. FGCU |
ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The No. 19 UCF men’s soccer team continues their homestand Tuesday evening with the second of three consecutive home matches. The Knights host FGCU at 7 p.m. at the UCF Soccer Complex for their final out-of-conference matchup of the season.
The match will be streamed live via UCFKnights.TV and live stats will also be available.
UCF (8-2-2; 2-1-1) is coming off a scoreless draw in double overtime with American Athletic Conference rival, UConn. Cal Jennings led all players with seven shots in 91 minutes of play. Louis Perez collected four shots with two on target, while Hattabiou Barry added three.
Yannik Oettl started his 12th consecutive game for the Knights recording a shutout for his third this season.
100 UCF lunch boxes will be given away at the front gate to fans who bring three dry food items to be donated to our campus partner, Knights Pantry in honor of World Food Day.
THE OPPONENT
- FGCU holds a 7-3-1 overall record and are currently on a three-game win streak.
- The Eagles most recent win came at the expense of 2-0 shutout over Liberty. The Knights defeated Liberty, 4-1 in week three.
- In the last meeting, the Eagles defeated UCF in Fort Myers, 1-0 after scoring in the 80th minute. There were five shots on goal the entire match with the Knights notching two.
- The overall series record between FGCU and UCF is 1-3-2 in favor of FGCU.
KNIGHT BITES
- The Knights are currently behind UConn and USF in conference points with both teams collecting eight each. UCF and SMU are just behind with seven points each.
- Oettl was named to The American Weekly Honor Roll for recording a clean sheet against UConn in last week’s battle.
- The Knights continue to have one of the top scoring offenses in the nation. UCF averages 7.58 points per game, which tops The American and is fifth in Division I.
- The Black and Gold boast the best record in the state of Florida with eight wins.
- UCF is 23 in the latest RPI.
