ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – It was a Friday night sweep for the UCF softball team as they left the UCF Softball Complex with a pair of wins.

The Knights shutout Indian River State College, 10-0 and followed with a 5-4 victory over Seminole State College.

In the trounce over Indian River, Alea White and Cierra Word combined for a three-hitter, while giving up zero runs. White pitched the first four innings recording eight strikeouts, while Word came in to close and gave up just two hits.

At the plate, all hitters for UCF recorded at least one hit, while Kendyl Lange and Erin Emanuel led the way for the Knights. Lange went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBI and Emanuel went 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.

In game two, Breanna Vasquez and Ashley Stephenson teamed up for seven strikeouts, six hits, and no earned runs.

Offensively, Tamesha Glover was a standout collecting two hits including a double. In the bottom of the seventh, a trio of newcomers went to work for UCF propelling them to a win in walk-off fashion. In the bottom of the seventh, Damaria Cannon led off a bunt single and on the next pitch, stole second. Takiya London advanced Cannon to third with a sacrifice bunt to bring up Tera Testa who ripped a shot up the middle to score Cannon and end the game.

The Black and Gold continue their fall season hosting Florida on Friday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m.

All fall games at the UCF Softball Complex are free and open to the public.
