ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF men’s soccer team takes a quick break from American Athletic Conference play to do battle with Jacksonville on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the UCF Soccer Complex.
The first 75 students through the gate will receive a free Knights scarf and Pop Parlour will also be giving out free popsicles to the first 150 people.
The Knights (6-2-1) are coming off a crucial 2-0 victory against conference rival, SMU to even out their conference record to 1-1. Cal Jennings and Hattabiou Barry each registered a goal for the Knights, while Yoni Sorokin, Louis Perez, Walker Dawkins, and Jennings all added an assist.
The win places the Knights with the best winning percentage in The American with UConn being the next best team.
THE OPPONENT
- The Knights hold the advantage in the all-time record with the Dolphins, 21-13-4.
- The Dolphins are 2-8 on the season thus far.
- Jacksonville’s two wins they have this season have come against conference opponents.
- UCF hasn’t lost to the Dolphins since 2002 (1-0).
- Jacksonville leads the ASUN in shot accuracy with 49% of their shots being on target.
- The Dolphins are coming off a 4-2 win over NJIT for their second victory of the season.
KNIGHT BITES
- Head coach Scott Calabrese enters Tuesday’s match with 99 career wins as a head coach.
- Yannik Oettl was named Goalkeeper of the Week this week after shutting out SMU, 2-0 Friday.
- UCF continues to dominate The American as they pace the conference in 10 categories.
- Jennings broke into double digits in goals on the season firing in his 10th Friday against SMU. The junior also contributed an assist as he tallies up 23 points for the season.
- The Knights are halfway through their home games and are 3-1-1 giving up just four goals, while netting nine.
- UCF cranks up their momentum after the second half with 12 total goals compared to six in the first half.
