ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – While the UCF football team won again to improve to 5-0 on the season and extend its nation-leading win streak to 18 games, a number of Top 25 teams lost this week. When the national polls came out on Sunday, the Knights had jumped to all the way to ninth in the Amway Coaches Poll.
UCF moved up four spots in the poll voted on by the nation’s coaches, reaching a ranking higher than any in program history outside of last season’s final mark of six in the AP Top 25 Poll.
Following the 48-20 win over visiting SMU, the Knights also climbed two spots in the AP Poll, rising to 10th in the nation. It marks the third time in the last six seasons that UCF has ranked in the Top 10, also having done so in 2017 and 2013.
Once again, the Knights remained the highest ranked team out of the state of Florida and the highest in the American Athletic Conference. Both South Florida and Cincinnati earned their way into the Top 25 this week, at 23rd and 25th in both polls.
At this point last season, UCF was ranked 21st and 22nd in the AP Poll and the Coaches Poll, respectively.
Following Saturday’s win over SMU, the Knights have won 18 straight games, dating back to the start of the 2017 season. It’s the longest win streak in the nation, the longest in program history and the longest in American Athletic Conference history.
UCF will return to action on the road next weekend. The Knights play at Memphis Saturday at 3:30 p.m. with coverage on ABC and ESPN2, as well as FM 96.9/AM 740 The Game.
