ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Fall ball is officially underway for the UCF softball team as the Knights picked up an 11-2 win over Eastern Florida State Friday night at the UCF Softball Complex.
It was head coach Cindy Ball’s first contest in the new era of UCF softball.
The Knights racked up 17 hits in the 10-inning game drawing five walks and registering just three strikeouts. Jazmine Esparza led the way for UCF with three hits, while six other Knights tallied two hits each.
Alea White started in the circle throwing four innings and recording nine strikeouts without allowing a single hit. Newcomers Ashley Stephenson and Breanna Vasquez also dealt for UCF each throwing three innings each and giving up a total of two hits while striking out eight.
The Black and Gold continue their fall season with a doubleheader on Friday, Oct. 12 against Indian River State College and Seminole State College beginning at 4 p.m.
All fall games at the UCF Softball Complex are free and open to the public.
