ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Collecting her second hat trick in a span of three games, Stefanie Sanders was named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
The sophomore recorded at least one point in both of UCF’s matches over the weekend to help the Knights start conference play 2-0 since 2014. Sanders scored the game-winning goal just 13 seconds after UCF’s third goal of the match in the first win at UConn under head coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak.
The Hamburg, Germany native became just the fourth NCAA Division I women’s soccer player to record a pair of hat tricks this season.
The forward is the sixth Knight to record multiple hat tricks in a season but is the first since 1991 to do so in a three-game span.
Monday’s honor is the first American Athletic Conference weekly award for Sanders.
