CHARLESTON, S.C. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women’s golf team wrapped up their first round at the Cougar Classic in Charleston, S.C., Sunday afternoon with a day one total of 292 and four over par.
The Knights were led by Maria Balcazar who finished one under par with a 71. Balcazar picked up two birdies on the back nine making the turn two-under and finished with a 37 on the front. The junior completed the round with a top 20 best score.
Newcome Alyssa Lamoureux concluded her first collegiate tournament shooting par after recording birdies on the ninth and eleventh holes. She is currently in the top 30 in the field.
Also competing in her first collegiate tournament, Elizabeth Moon rounded out the day with 74(+2), while senior Anna Hack was right behind her with a 75.
Nicolette Donovan shot a 38 on both the front and back nine to end her day with a 76.
UCF tallied 65 pars, while averaging 4.90 strokes on par fives.
The Knights closed out the first day ahead a handful schools including No. 25 North Carolina, Indiana, and Maryland.
UCF will tee off Monday morning.
