ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – After another round of 18, Pedro Lencart Silva is still dominating the World Amateur Team Championships with a day two score of 70(-3). The newcomer is now tied for 12th overall individually, while his team of Portugal holds a total score of four under par.

Lencart Silva had a solid outing Thursday finishing with four total birdies while shooting 35 on the front nine and 36 on the back.

 The Portugal native will tee off at 8:51 a.m. in Ireland as he begins the third round of four.

Lencart was selected as the player to watch from Portugal after his recent success winning the Junior Open Championship and the Boys Amateur Championship in 2016 and 2017.

The World Amateur Team Championships are a biennial international amateur golf competition that rotates among three geographic zones of the world: Asia-Pacific, Americas and Europe-Africa. The men’s competition plays for the keeps of the Eisenhower Trophy.

Each team has two or three players, who each play 18 holes of stroke play over four days. In each round, the total of the two lowest scores from each team constitutes the team score for the round. The four-day (72-hole) total is the team’s score for the championship.

THE KNIGHTS
UCF will begin its' season at the Hartford Hawk Invitational on Sept. 17-18 in South Kent, Connecticut where they will defend last year’s championship.
