ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – The 2018 season started this past Thursday when the UCF football team extended its nation-leading win streak to 14 games, defeating UConn on the road by a score of 56-17. On Monday, the first weekly honors were announced by The American, and to no surprise, UCF quarterback McKenzie Milton was named the AAC Offensive Player of the Week.
It marks the fifth career Player of the Week nod for Milton, who earned four throughout last season.
The junior signal caller went 24-of-32 through the air, throwing for 346 yards and tied a career high with five touchdowns. He also added 50 yards rushing, didn’t throw an interception, and didn’t fumble the ball. He did it all in just three quarters of action.
UCF safety Richie Grant was also honored on Monday, earning a spot on The American’s Weekly Honor Roll. In his first career start, Grant recorded six tackles, forced a fumble, recovered a fumble and grabbed his first career interception.
Milton, Grant and the No. 21/23 Knights hit the field for week two this Saturday when UCF hosts South Carolina State at 6 p.m. in the team’s 2018 home opener.
