STORRS, Conn. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women’s soccer team continues American Athletic Conference action on Sunday, traveling to Connecticut to face the Huskies.
UCF (4-3-1, 1-0 The American) and UConn (2-10, 0-3 The American) will play in a noon matchup that will air on the American Digital Network.
Knight Notes
- UCF won its league opener at Temple, 2-1, on Thursday.
- Zandy Soree leads the Knights with six goals and 13 total points on the season.
- After scoring her first hat trick with the Black and Gold, Stefanie Sanders is UCF’s second-leading scorer with four goals and 10 points in 2018.
- Kristen Scott has three goals in 2018, while Konya Plummer tallied her first goal as a Knight in the draw at Maryland and Jessica Taylor notched her first marker at Temple.
- Vera Varis has started each match for the Knights, making 25 saves with a 1.13 goals-against average in 2018.
Road Warriors
- The Knights are 3-1-1 in true road games this season.
- UCF has outscored its opponents 10-4 on the road, with Zandy Soree and Stefanie Sanders combining for six goals.
- A 2-1 win at Temple on Thursday improved UCF to 34-8-4 as members of The American, with a 5-0-1 mark in their league opener.
Scouting the Huskies
- UConn enters the match with a 2-10 overall record and an 0-3 mark in The American.
- The Huskies lead the all-time series 6-4, but the Knights hold the most recent victory, a 2-0 win in Orlando last season.
- Erin Spillane and Sophia Danyko-Kulchycky have each scored a trio of goals on the season to lead UConn. Elena Santos has a pair of markers in league play.
- A pair of Huskies have seen time in goal this season, with Randi Palacios starting all 11 matches she’s played in. Palacios has 52 saves with a 2.57 goals-against average in 2018.

The Knights return to the UCF Soccer Complex for a pair of American Athletic Conference contests. UCF will host ECU on Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. followed by a 1 p.m. Oct. 7 matchup against Cincinnati.
