Shutting Out SMU

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – You could hear the roar from the crowd from the other side of CFE Arena as Hattabiou Barry fired a shot from inside the 18-yard box for the Knights second goal of the evening in the 90th minute to secure a 2-0 victory over SMU.

In a packed UCF Soccer Complex, the Knights grabbed their first American Athletic Conference win of the season in a chippy 90-minute showdown with the Mustangs.

The Black and Gold were out for revenge after the pair of losses to the Mustangs last season as Cal Jennings and Barry each produced a goal for the Knights plunging them into their conference home opener win.

The Knights (6-2-1) even out their conference record at 1-1, while SMU drops to 4-4-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

UCF controlled the ball for most of the match recording 18 shots compared to SMU’s 10. The Knights also racked up 10 shots on goal and five corners.
