ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women’s soccer team opens American Athletic Conference action on Thursday afternoon at Temple.

The Knights and the Owls will play at 3:30 p.m. ET at the Temple Sports Complex.

 Knight Notes

  • UCF opens conference action after having a bye week during the first weekend of league play.
  • Zandy Soree leads the Knights with five goals and 11 total points on the season.
  • After scoring her first hat trick with the Black and Gold, Stefanie Sanders is UCF’s second-leading scorer with four goals and 10 points in 2018.
  • Kristen Scott has three goals in 2018, while Konya Plummer tallied her first goal as a Knight in the draw at Maryland.
  • Vera Varis has started each match for the Knights, making 21 saves with a 1.14 goals-against average in 2018.

 

Commencing Conference

  • The Knights are set to begin their sixth season as members of the American Athletic Conference.
  • UCF has earned four conference titles since joining the league in 2013, including a sweep of the regular season and conference tournament championships in the inaugural campaign.
  • The Knights are 33-8-4 as members of The American, with a 4-0-1 mark in their league opener.
  • UCF won the 2017 regular season title and was selected as the preseason favorite to repeat in 2018.

 

Scouting the Owls

  • Temple enters the match with a 5-6 overall record and a 1-1 mark in The American.
  • The Owls opened league play with a split weekend in Texas. After a 2-0 defeat at SMU, Temple topped Houston 3-2.
  • Emma Wilkins is one of six Owls who have scored goals this season, and leads Temple with five markers in 2018.
  • The Owls have three players with time in goal this season, led by Morgan Basileo’s 10 game played. Basileo has a 1.27 goals-against average.

 

NEXT UP
The Knights continue league play at UConn on Sunday. UCF will face the Huskies at noon in a contest that will broadcast on the American Digital Network.
