ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF baseball team held its first practice of the fall on Thursday afternoon. Entering his third year in charge, head coach Greg Lovelady opened the fall training schedule with 21 returners and 17 newcomers.
UCF is coming off a 35-21 season in 2018, narrowly missing out on an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Matthew Mika, Ray Alejo, Tyler Osik and Dallas Beaver were named Second Team American Athletic Conference.
New this fall, the Black and Gold will play three games against outside competition. The Knights will face Seminole State on Sept. 30 and St. Leo on Oct. 12 at John Euliano Park. Both games will be free to the public. UCF will also square off with the Canadian Junio National Team on Oct. 7 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports. The Black and Gold World Series will take place on Oct. 25-27.
Below is a list of fall practice dates, all of which are open to the public. Practices during weekdays will normally start around 2:30 p.m. and run until 5 p.m. All times are subject to change.
