ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com)
– American Athletic Conference play begins Friday for the UCF men’s soccer team as they head to Philadelphia, Pa., to do battle with Temple slated for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

The Knights are 5-1-1 going into Friday’s matchup after pulling off a come-from-behind, 4-2, victory over neighbor Stetson. UCF scored three goals in just over two minutes after being down 2-1 heading into the last seven minutes of the match. Cal Jennings netted his second three-bagger of the season to lead the Knights to victory.

THE OPPONENT

  • The Knights’ series record against Temple is 2-1-2.
  • In last season’s meeting, UCF shutout the Owls, 1-0 at the UCF Soccer Complex on Senior Knight.
  • The UCF defense allowed just two shots on goal.
  • Seven Knights played all 90 minutes while UCF used only two substitutions throughout the match.
  • This season, the Owls are 2-4-1 and winless at home.
  • Temple is most recently coming off a 1-1 draw with Duquesne.

  • The Knights have taken home three of the four Offensive Player of the Week honors from The American thanks to Louis Perez and Cal Jennings(2).
  • With five wins thus far, UCF has the best record amongst Division I programs in the Sunshine State.
  • Jennings took home his second Offensive Player of the Week honors after netting five goals in two games last week. He was invovled in six of the Knights seven goals.
  • In The American, The Knights are first in total points, total goals, total assists, shots and shots on goal per game, scoring offense, points per game, and assists per game.
  • Jennings is grabbing national attention as one of the top forwards in the country. He is currently ranked second in shots per game, game winning goals, total goals, total points, goals per game, and points per game.
  • Jennings has scored nine of UCF’s 16 goals this season.
  • Head coach Scott Calabrese is sitting at 98 wins as a head coach.
  • Since its home opener last season, UCF is 12-2-2.
  • The Knights are 3-0 on the road. In those three matches, UCF has compiled 28 points, nine goals, and 24 shots on goal.
