SOUTH KENT, Conn. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF men’s golf team leads the field at the Hartford Hawk Invitational after the first round shooting 274(-14).

Bobby Bai sits atop the player leaderboard with a 66(-6). Bai was bogey free in his first 18 holes of the tournament and recorded six birdies.

Jalen Ledger is just one stroke behind Bai with a 67(-5). The senior tallied the most birdies out of the Knights with eight total. Ledger was two over through the first holes, but bounced back and played the remaining 14 holes, seven-under.

Competing as an individual, Clement Charmasson ends his day four-under par with six birdies as he begins his collegiate career.

Pedro Lencart Silva, also competing in his first collegiate tournament, produced a solid day with a round one score of 70(-2) as he sits in 15th place.  The newcomer grabbed seven birdies heading into the second round.

Senior Kyler Tate is right behind Lencart Silva with a 71 and taking on three birdies, while Tommy Cao caps off his day with a 75 including a pair of birdies.

UCF started the second round but was cut short due to weather. The field got through 14 holes and will pick up tomorrow morning. The tournament is also being shortened to 36 holes instead of 54.

The Knights are ahead of all 19 other teams at Bull’s Bridge, a 6,992-yard par 72 course on the border of Connecticut and New York.
