Jennings Grabs Player of the Week

ORLANDO, Fla. ( – For the second time this season, Cal Jennings has been named the Offensive Player of the Week by the American Athletic Conference. The accolade also marks the fourth straight week the Knights’ have brought home a weekly award.

Last week, Jennings netted five goals and an assist for 11 points in two games. The junior also recorded his second hat trick of the season, the first Knight to do so since 1999.

Of UCF’s seven goals last week, Jennings was involved in six of them.

The Roswell, Ga., native came in clutch in the second half of the match against Stetson Saturday evening. UCF was down 1-0 after halftime and Jennings scored the equalizer in the 52nd minute putting the Knights back in the match. The Hatters added a goal in the 84th minute, but the Knights scored three times in two minutes and six second thanks to a duo of goals from Jennings.

The game winner he produced on Saturday was his fourth of the season. In just six games, Jennings has scored nine total goals and accounts for 20 of the Knights 47 points this season.

Jennings remains among the top forwards in the country ranking in the top five in total goals (9), points (20), shots on goal (22), and game winners (4).

Previous weekly award winnings include Louis Perez (Aug.27), Jennings (Sept. 3), and Yannik Oettl (Sept. 10).

The American Conference play starts next week when UCF travels to Temple for their third consecutive road match. The battle begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21.
