ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women’s soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to George Mason at the UCF Soccer Complex on Thursday evening.
George Mason (5-3) tallied the first goal of the contest, as a free kick was collected by Kayla Hamric, who put the Patriots ahead 1-0 in the 11th minute.
UCF (2-3-1) responded less than five minutes later, as Kristen Scott sent in her second collegiate goal in the 15th minute. After a shot from Dina Orschmann was blocked, Carrie Lawrence collected the loose ball, sending it across to Scott, who headed in the equalizer.
The Patriots reclaimed the lead in the 30th minute, as Emma van der Vorst drilled a laser between the top of Vera Varis’ outstretched hands and the crossbar. George Mason extended its advantage in the 66th minute for the final result of 3-1.
NEXT UP
The Knights return to action on Sunday, heading to Stetson for the non-conference finale. The match is slated for a 7 p.m. start in DeLand.
